Neurodiversity

Neurodiversity is an umbrella term for the natural variation in how people’s brains are wired. While the medical establishment has historically diagnosed these in terms of deficits and disorders, neuroscience simply notes that some brains process information differently. When a minority of people think differently than a majority, communication and understanding between them can be challenging. However, different minds also contribute greatly to society. One is not better than another, just different.

Attention Deficit Disorder (ADD/ADHD), Autism (ASD) and what was previously called Aspberger’s, Dyslexia and Dyspraxia are medical terms for some of those with Neurodiversity.

Neurodiversity is the natural expression of human variation, rather than a disorder or deficiency. “Different not less.” (10:27)
